10th Session of the WCO Capacity Building Committee, Brussels
From 8th April 2019 to 10th April 2019, the 10th Session of the WCO Capacity Building Committee has been held in Brussels. The theme of this year's Committee was "REFLECTING ON THE PAST, EMBRACING THE FUTURE". Professor Wolffgang participated in a discussion under the heading "Evolution of the WCO Capacity Building Agenda, from One Decade to the Next" with three other participants comprised of representatives of WCO-members, private sector and development partners who reflected and discussed the evolution of capacity building in Customs. The discussions focussed on how the evolving Customs operation environment has impacted capacity building efforts and suggestions on the optimal capacity building approaches that can contribute to achieving the much needed balance between acquiring skills in modern Customs techniques such as data analysis, risk management, technology-driven controls, including other enabling tools and resources that are required to improve and achieve sustainable results.
