Institute of Customs and International Trade Law at the University of Münster

 

 

Welcome to the Institute of Customs and International Trade Law!

The Institute of Customs and International Trade Law was evolved from the collaboration of the AWA Außenwirtschafts-Akademie GmbH (Foreign Trade Academy) and the former Department of Customs and Excise, which formed part of the Institute of Tax Law at the University of Münster. Since October 2016 the Institute of Customs and International Trade Law is an autonomous Institute of the University of Münster.

The former Department of Customs and Excise was created in 1995 with the aim of promoting research into customs-related topics of both national and international importance as well as raising the profile of customs within the law faculty and business school.

  • Prof Wolffgang included in "Who´s Who  Adviser Handbook 2023"

    Prof Wolffgang has been included in the "Who´s Who Adviser Handbook 2023". After just beeing included in "Who´s Who Legal", Prof Wolffgang has now been included in the adviser handbook as well by the Corporate INTL group. For more information, please click here.

  • Prof Wolffgang has been included in the "Who´s Who Legal" list again. He is described by "Who´s Who" als "towering figure in customs law" and a "pioneer of customs advisory services". For more information, please click here.

  • The ICTL becomes a partner of ECCE

    The ICTL has become a partner of the ECCE project. ECCE is an indipendent legal research project financed by European Commission, OLAF and the University of Bologna, Department of Legal Studies. The project is conducted in partnership with Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, Universidad de Valencia, and Joint Research Centre (ISPRA). The project aims to explore and compare national customs control pratices, as well as to explore the legal status and value of Theseus, a statistical instrument, which could be used to fight fraud all over Europe.   • Senior Researchers of the ICTL publish an article in ZfZ

    Dr. Kerstin Harden and Cornelius Herschbach have published an article on the relationship between the delegated regulation and the basic regulation in Union law in the German Zeitschrift für Zölle und Verbrauchsteuern (ZfZ). For more information please click here.

 

  • The Institute of Customs and International Trade Law and the Shanghai Customs College intensify their cooperation

  • 14th Special Day of Export Control, 20th to 21st February 2020, Berlin

  • Recognition of academic programmes by EU Commission

    An award ceremony took place on 10th December 2019  in Brussels, Berlaymont, at the margin of the EU Customs Policy Group (CPG) meeting and in the presence of the EU Member States national Heads of Customs, the Directors General of EU MS Customs Administrations. At this occasion Mr Stephen Quest, EU Commission, Director General of DG TAXUD, formally handed-out the original EU Certificates of Recognition for the MCA and the MCC academic programmes to Prof. Dr. Wolffgang and Dr. Dallimore. Please click here to see the relating pictures.

  • XV World Customs Law Meeting, Seville

    From 11th to 13th September 2019, the XV World Customs Law Meeting took place in Seville, Spain. Prof. Wolffgang gave an openig speech to introduce the topic and to present the International Customs Law Academy, that hosted the conference. For more information please click here.

 

  • 5th Meeting of the Working Group on the Comprehensive Review of the Revised Kyoto Convention (RKC), Brussels

    From 3rd June 2019 to 6th June 2019, the 5th Meeting of the Working Group on the Comprehensive Review of the Revised Kyoto Convention has been held in Brussels. Ms. Kerstin Harden participated for the Institute of Customs and International Trade Law (ICTL) in a discussion under the heading "Sharing Experiences on implementation of the RKC" on 6th June 2019.   • "Festschrift - Foreign Trade, Excises and Customs in the 21st century" was published in honour of Prof. Wolffgang

    The "Festschrift - Foreign Trade, Excises and Customs in the 21st century" was published in honour of Prof. Wolffgang on the occasion of his 65th birthday. The just published "Festschrift" was handed over during the 30th European Customs Conference, which was held on the 7th and 8th of June in Thun (Switzerland).

  • Prof. Wolffgang visits the Shanghai Customs College, Haoliwen Law Firm, Pujiang Customs and Xinhai Customs Broker Co. Ltd.

    Prof. Wolffgang was invited to visit the Shanghai Customs College, where he gave lectures on the topics "General Introduction of EU Customs Legal Regime", "Latest Development of EU Customs Code" and "AEO Legal System of EU" as well as seminars on the topics "New Development of EU Customs Law" and "Higher Education of Customs Law". During his stay in China, he also visited the Haoliwen Law Firm, Pujiang Customs and Xinhai Customs Broker Co. Ltd.

  • The Department of Customs and Excise becomes the Institute of Customs and International Trade Law

    Since October 2016 the Institute of Customs and International Trade Law is an autonomous institute of the University of Muenster. It was evolved by the collaboration of the AWA Außenwirtschafts-Akademie GmbH (Foreign Trade Academy) and the former Department of Customs and Excise.

  • Prof. Wolffgang delivers speeches at various International conferences. 

    Prof. Wolffgang moderated a Plenary discussion at the PICARD Conference in Azerbaijan. He was also invited to deliver speeches on the topics "Global Value Chains and Security Measures", "Hidden customs risks in corporate acquisitions" and "Das zweistufige Ausfuhrverfahren und der Begriff des Ausführers im Zollrecht" at various International conferences.

  • Prof. Wolffgang moderated WCO Panel on the Future of Customs

    Prof. Wolffgang moderated the Panel on the Future of Customs, which took place from 3 to 6 of March 2015 at the World Customs Organisation in Brussels.
